He is an expert in making sense of the news, providing insights and adding context. In 2020 he created a series called Erik in the Divided States, in 2021 he reported live on the January 6 events and he is the author of New York, de gedroomde stad. Erik is the longest-serving Dutch US broadcast correspondent: these will be his 5th US elections he reports on! Thomas Rueb US Correspondent for De Volkskrant since 2021 Thomas is an author, investigative journalist and currently the US correspondent for the Volkskrant. His insightful commentary delves into the narratives around major political and societal issues and the evolving developments in American society, as well as the dynamics at play in election cycles. His bestselling book Laura H. was recently adapted into a drama series. These will be his first US elections Thomas reports on! Madeleijn van den Nieuwenhuizen  Media critic & Legal History Researcher, NYC since 2016 Madeleijn has a Master's in Political History (Columbia University) and is currently working as a Fulbright PhD candidate at CUNY where she conducts research on the legal history of gender and marriage law. On Instagram she exposes issues in the Dutch media, such as gender stereotyping, the systematic absence of diverse voices, and misinformation. @Zeikschrift. In 2022, she published a bestselling book in the Netherlands on abortion rights, Live and let live, dialogues on abortion and bodily autonomy. THE MODERATOR Ilja Willems Documentary filmmaker at Bureau NY since 2010 Ilja is a seasoned documentary director and producer with over 20 years of experience crafting compelling narratives on socio-political and cultural developments worldwide. When it comes to the US elections, she has created four different documentary series focusing on important election themes and exploring the lives of individuals across the United States affected by policy issues.
