Member Spotlight: Philip Hordijk Featured in the Financieele Dagblad

We’re proud to shine the spotlight on one of our inspiring NL Club members, Philip Hordijk, who was recently featured in the Netherlands’ leading financial publication, Het Financieele Dagblad (FD). From Amsterdam to Manhattan, Philip’s journey is a powerful example of international ambition, entrepreneurship, and grit.

After launching his real estate firm, Leven Real Estate, Philip has carved out a name for himself in the highly competitive New York City property market, brokering high-end deals ranging from $1.5M to well over $25M. With a team of 25 international agents, Philip’s firm now oversees over $100 million in annual sales - and is still growing, with plans to expand into Miami and beyond.

But his path hasn’t been without its challenges. In his interview with FD, Philip offers an honest look into the unrelenting pace and ambition of NYC life. "Modesty is for suckers here," he says with a laugh - highlighting the culture shock that comes from transitioning from Dutch directness to New York’s more aggressive style of doing business.

From his early days growing up in Amsterdam, to studying business economics and real estate finance, to running marathons and building a thriving life with his Brazilian-American family, Philip’s story is one of passion, persistence, and navigating multiple cultures: all while staying grounded in values like honesty and loyalty.
