Jonge Strijkers Shine in New York — with a Little Help from the NL Club NYC

Earlier this month, the talented young musicians of the Jonge Strijkers Netherlands (https://jongestrijkers.nl/) made a dream come true: flying all the way from the Netherlands to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York. Their inspiring journey was beautifully captured in an article by Dutch national newspaper NRC, sharing their incredible story of ambition, teamwork, and the power of music to connect across cultures.

We at The NL Club NYC were honored to play a small but meaningful part in this unforgettable tour. On their very first morning in New York on Sunday April 6, the Jonge Strijkers gave their debut performance at the Grimm Gallery, made possible through our club’s network and support.

"The next morning, the Jonge Strijkers immediately took the stage at Grimm Gallery, where we gave our first concert through The Netherlands Club," NRC wrote.

The event brought together members of the Dutch and international community in New York to celebrate these exceptional young talents. It was a perfect illustration of how cultural exchange and community collaboration can create magical moments, even when it’s thousands of miles from home.

Following their opening at the Grimm Gallery, the Jonge Strijkers went on to charm audiences across the city, from an intimate salon concert on the Upper West Side to the grand stage of Carnegie Hall itself. Their tour was a testament not just to their musical ability, but to their spirit of adventure, perseverance, and friendship.

“It was truly inspiring to witness such remarkable young talent perform here in New York. Supporting this group of 32 gifted Dutch musicians - from their home country all the way to an iconic stage like Grimm Gallery - reflects exactly what The Netherland Club stands for: celebrating Dutch excellence abroad.

With this performance, we aimed to make classical music more accessible to children by offering a body percussion workshop while the parents enjoyed the concert. The kids joined the musicians halfway through for a body percussion performance. These are the moments when I have to pinch myself - watching American-born Dutch kids perform with a youth orchestra from the Netherlands in a historic venue in Tribeca, NY,” said Katherine Vos van Liempt, General Manager of the NL Club NYC.

At the NL Club NYC here in New York, we believe in supporting initiatives that highlight the best of Dutch culture and community spirit abroad. We are proud to have contributed to the success of this remarkable journey and look forward to welcoming many more inspiring Dutch talents in the future!
